Description
Up for auction is an absolutely rare Madame Hendren 18" baby doll with composition head, arms and legs and a cloth body. In doing research, it appears to be a Baby Brite doll, manufactured in 1928. She has molded blond hair, working blue celluloid sleep eyes (no lashes) and an open mouth with two visible teeth. Baby Brite has a crier in her back that no longer works. She is marked on the back of her neck "Madame Hendren Doll". She was made to be able to stick her pointy right finger in her mouth and she can. She was one of the first life-like dolls in the Madam Hendren AKA Avervil and was made to be a Effanbee Bubbles look a like. She comes in her long dress - there are some slight tears and a few holes, a nice cotton slip, bonnet and booties. I am not sure if the dress is original.
Now the bad news... I believe someone tried to repair her composition and did not do a good job. Also I am not sure if someone tried to paint her hair as it has a couple of different colors of blond. She is missing her pointy finger on her left hand. I tried to take enough pictures to give you the right expectation.
She would be worth a lot if someone could spend time with her ... I am selling low because of her condition. Please refer to pictures for best information.
